This Ceramic Fibre Tape is a specialised tape based on ceramic fibres, which has excellent thermal resistance while maintaining it’s density and tensile strength. Suitable for glazing of non-insulating and insulating fire resistant glass, into internal timber and steel screens and doors with glass. The performance of ceramic glazing tape is dependent on the use of suitable fire resistant glass and suitable frame design. It can provide 30 minute and in some cases 60 minute resistance to the passage of fire and smoke.
Ceramic Fibre Tape is designed to be applied directly to the clean and dry surface, with no special primers or sealers required it can be applied with the special pressure sentitive contact adhesive supplied. It can also be capped with Silfix U9 silicone to prevent possible degradation of the tape by glass cleaning solutions. If Ceramic Fibre Tape is to be capped with silicone, apply the tape to the rebate upstand and bead approximately 3mm below the sightline. If Ceramic Fibre Tape is to be applied without silicone capping, apply the tape to the rebate upstand and bead, level with the sightline.
This fire resistant glazing tape has been successfully fire tested in accordance with BS 476: Part 22: 1987. Tested with non-insulating and insulating glass types from all major glass manufacturers. In the fire test 63329 sponsored by Schott Glass Ltd, the Fibrefax ceramic tape achieved 126 minutes fire integrity.
It is supplied in a roll with a special pressure sensitive contact adhesive that allows it to be repositioned before final fixing. Non-toxic and white in colour.
