Designed for structural steel frames requiring full or partial fire protection with Thermocoat intumescent paint. This quick drying primer is suitable for both normal and severe exposure.
It is ideal for use as an initial coating under Thermocoat WI, Thermocoat WO & Thermocoat S intumescent paints, for corrosion resistance in normal buildings or as part of a high corrosion resistant system when overcoated with Thermoguard Flame Retardant Paints.
The Thermocoat fire paint for steel is VOC 2010 compliant as part of a specialist or performance coating system for structural steel.
The product should be applied promptly to blast cleaned steel, or steel hand-tool cleaned and abraded to ST2 or to sound and firmly adhered primers, eggshell or gloss paints. This Thermocoat intumescent paint for steel can be applied with a brush, roller or spray and it can cover 5.7 sq m / litre. Touch dry time is between 1-2 hours and can be overcoated after 6 hours (for 20C steel temperature) and 12 hours (for 10C steel temperature). Avoid getting the intumescent paint wet for 24+ hours.
