Thermoguard 2K Fire Varnish Basecoat is a durable, two-component product consisting of a base and activator. This water-based basecoat is a clear intumescent varnish that should be finished with the appropriate Fire Varnish Overcoat to create a fire varnish system.
To create an effective Fire Varnish System, the Thermoguard 2K Fire Varnish Basecoat should be used under a Fire Varnish Overcoat and the Fire Varnish Exterior 2K Overcoat. The Fire Varnish Basecoat provides fire protection and the Fire Varnish Overcoat protects against wear.
In the event of fire, Thermoguard Fire Varnish System expands to create an insulating barrier and protect the wood from burning. This fire varnish basecoat has been tested to standards BS Class 1 and Class 0 Surface Spread of Flame and BS EN Class B s2 d0.
The Thermoguard Fire Varnish Bascoat needs to be applied in 1 coat to a clean and dry surface. After 1-4 days after the basecoat is dry, the fire varnish system can be completed with 1 coat of Thermoguard Fire Varnish Overcoat for interior applications and 2 coats of Thermoguard Exterior 2K Fire Varnish Overcoat for exterior applications.
