The Sealmaster N60S is a combined intumescent fire door smoke seal that provides 60 minute fire performance, specifically designed for FD60S fire and smoke-resisting double door assemblies. The N60S fire and smoke seal is suitable for doors that can move both ways. Rebated into the centre of opposing door edges at meeting stiles, the N60S has to be aligned with the centre of the door edge. Where N60S intumescent fire and smoke seal is fitted to an existing door assembly, the top rail and stiles of the door are easily rebated. The seal is interupted at the hinges and lock/latch plate positions. The protection at these points can be provided by Sealmaster Intumescent Plugs.
The N60S should be used in conjunction with an IMP seal. The fire door seal comprises of an extruded alluminium alloy profile with a twin reservoir filled with a Sealmaster intumescent material. At the head and hanging stiles N60S is used on its own. The flame-retardant elastomeric blade in N60S provides the smoke-control function required of all doors designated by the suffix ‘S’ in Building Regulations Approved Document B. In normal conditions, the elastomeric blade seals the gap between the door and the frame, and acts as an efficient draught seal.
When exposed to fire, the intumescent material in Sealmaster N60S seal foams and swells to fill the gaps between the door and the frame. Since the foam remains soft during the period of intumescent action, it does not prevent the door from being opened by firefighters and the copious reserves ensure that the gap will be re-sealed should the door distort for any reason.
The Sealmaster N60S intumescent door smoke seal has been tested by TRADA offering 60 minute stability, integrity and insulation when used in conjunction with the IMP seal. It has also been successfully tested to BS 476 part 22 and approved by Certifire.
The extrusion width for the Sealmaster N60S is 21mm and the extrusion depth is 7.5mm. It is recommended that the groove is routed to give a ‘light press fit’ for the extrusion, whereby the seal should finish flush with the timber. The recommended door-to-door gap and door-to-frame gap is 3mm. Available in standard lengths of 1050mm or 2100mm.
