The Sealmaster N30 is a combined intumescent fire door smoke seal that provides 30 minute fire performance and is ideal for single action FD30S fire and smoke resistant doorsets. Rebated into the head and jambs of the door frame, the N30 has to be aligned with the centre of the door edge. Where N30 Intumescent Fire and Smoke Seal is fitted to an existing door assembly, the top rail and stiles of the door are easily rebated. The seal is interrupted at the hinges and lock/latch plate positions, which can be protected by Sealmaster Intumescent Plugs. However for FD30S doors, protection at these points is not necessary.
The fire and smoke seal comprises of an extruded aluminium alloy profile with a single reservoir filled with a Sealmaster intumescent material. An angled self-extinguishing elastomeric blade gives maximum efficiency with minimum drag. In normal conditions, the elastomeric blade seals the gap between the door and the frame, and acts as an efficient draught seal.
When exposed to fire, the intumescent material in Sealmaster N30 seal foams and swells to fill the gaps between the door and the frame. Since the foam remains soft during the period of intumescent action, it does not prevent the door from being opened by firefighters and the copious reserves ensure that the gap will be re-sealed should the door distort for any reason.
The Sealmaster N30 intumescent fire door seal has been tested by TRADA offering 30 minute stability, integrity and insulation. It has also been successfully tested to BS 476 part 22 and approved by Certifire.
The extrusion width for the Sealmaster N30 is 9.5mm and the extrusion depth is 7.5mm and it is recommended that the groove is routed to give a ‘light press fit’ for the extrusion. The seal should finish flush with the timber. The recommended door-to-door gap and door-to-frame gap is 3mm. Available in standard lengths of 1050mm or 2100mm.
