Sealmaster IMN is a fire door smoke seal designed to be used in combination with a Sealmaster IMP seal. Suitable for the meeting stiles of FD30S fire and smoke resisting door assemblies. In new doorsets, both profiles are rebated into the centre of opposing door edges at meeting stiles. Where IMN and IMP intumescent door seals are fitted to an existing door assembly, the stiles of the door are easily rebated. The intumescent fire and smoke seal is interrupted at the hinges and lock/latch, but FD30S doors don’t require additional protection at these points.
The IMN fire door seal is made of an aluminium holder filled with mono-ammonium phosphate intumescent material. IMN also holds a self-extinguishing elastomeric blade insert, which rests against the IMP when the doors are closed. At the head and hanging stiles the IMN is used on its own with the smoke seal making contact with the door or frame. In normal use, the elastomeric blade seals the gap between the doors, and acts as an efficient draught seal.
As the fire develops, the elastomeric blade provides a barrier to the passage of smoke and hot gases. Once the fire reaches the IMN fire door smoke seal, the intumescent material foams, swells and fills the gaps between the doors. Since the foam remains soft during the period of intumescent action, it exerts minimal pressure, allowing the doors to remain in their original positions.
The IMN fire door seal has been tested by TRADA on a double leaf, timber door assembly by TRADA and achieved 60 minutes fire resistance. The Sealmaster fire and smoke seal has also been tested by Certifire and conforms to BS 476 part 22.
The extrusion width for the Sealmaster IMN is 20.5mm and the extrusion depth is 6.0mm. It is recommended that the groove is routed to give a ‘light press fit’ for the extrusion, whereby the seal should finish flush with the timber. The recommended door-to-door gap and door-to-frame gap is 3mm. Available in standard lengths of 1050mm or 2100mm.
