Sealmaster graphite intumescent strip GRS is a self-adhesive, flexible, fire resistant strip offering up to 30 minutes fire protection. The intumescent fire strip doesn’t require any further protection upon application and has been specifically developed for use as a door edge seal when upgrading the fire performance of listed doors and doors of historical interest.
This 1mm strip can be fitted to the frame reveal avoiding the need for invasive routing of the door leaf edge or frame, therefore it is a perfect solution for upgrading historic doors for fire resistance. This graphite intumescent material known as GRS can be installed between door and frame without hindering the operation of the door and can run over most types of hinges giving extra protection at these vulnerable positions. Also suitable for georgian glazing applications.
This flexible fire strip is surface mounted with a self-adhesive tape. It is essential that the surface onto which the seal is to be fixed is clean and free from dust, as the self-adhesive tapes will not adhere well to dirty or rough surfaces. The adhesion is best at temperatures between 15°C and 25°C, but the product should not be applied if the temperature is below 10°C or above 35°C.
The strip is naturally black, but can be overpainted if desired. If the material is overpainted to blend in with the surroundings, its appearances should be virtually undetectable and this has been shown to have no deleterious influence on the fire capabilities.
The Sealmaster graphite intumescent fire strip has been tested at Trada to BS 476 Part 22. It has also achieved 32 minutes fire resistance according to the test report RF95082.
