ISL Therm-A-Blade offers fire and smoke protection, as well as providing an acoustic sealing solution. This acoustic, fire & smoke intumescent strip is designed to withstand high temperatures and is ideal for timber doorsets with steel frames, where conventional intumescent foam compounds break down.
This intumescent strip combines the outstanding fire performance of the Therm-A-Flex material with maximum smoke control and acoustic sealing. Therm-A-Blade is also immune to degradation by carbon dioxide.
Therm-A-Blade comprises of a PVC-u holder with a graphite based intumescent material with two elastomeric blades. Specially designed to be flexible, the thin blades enhance the smoke performance and minimize the opening and closing forces when operating the doors, therefore ensure a long and satisfactory life when installed into a 3 to 4mm gap between the door edge and the frame. Narrower gaps than this will shorten the life of the intumescent door strip. Larger gaps will not be a problem provided that the seal bridges the gap.
Therm-A-Blade is a great alternative to Therm-A-Stop, which has the same graphite intumescent material but offers fire and smoke protection only. Fitted to head and jambs of the single-leaf fire resisting doors, Therm-A-Blade is a perfect solution for sealing the door and reducing noise without compromising the excellent fire performance.
The Therm-A-Blade fire and smoke seal meets the fire and smoke performance requirement of BS 476: parts 20, 22 & 31.1. It can provide 30 or 60 minute fire resistance, depending of the size chosen, e.g. 10 x 4mm satisfies the requirements for FD30S, for 60 minute resistance, 20 x 4mm seal is preferred. Therm-A-Blade fire strip has been acoustically tested. When used together with either a Sealmaster threshold seal or suitable automatic door bottom drop seal on a nominal thickness 44-45mm door leaf, it shows an acoustic performance in the range of RW= 29-33db. This intumescent strip is also Certifire approved.
Available in a range of colours and sizes, in 2100mm length. This fire strip can be supplied with or without double sided adhesive tape.
