The Monolux glazing channel has been designed to be installed in fire resisting internal walls and in fire resisting doors. This glazing channel is suitable for 6mm wire reinforced glass or Pyran glass permits for large areas of glazing. This allows the advantage of borrowed lighting and the ability to identify a fire from the safe side of a protective screen.
Glazing Channels fixed to suitably dimensioned timber frame members will provide 30 minutes of fire resistance when used with panes of wire reinforced glass up to 1.5m² or Pyran glass up to 2.31m² area, and up to 1 hour of fire resistance when used with panes of wire reinforced or Pyran glass up to 1.3m² area, depending on the ratio of height to width.
Made of Monolux rigid insulation board, the glazing channel has been profiled and finished with a white intumescent paint. The Monolux material has a low shrinkage and thermal conductivity and high strength, therefore offering an effective and stable insulation solutions for industrial applications.
Successfully fire tested, the glazing channel meets the requirements for stability and integrity to BS 476: Part 8 and Class O of the building regulations.
Available in a white colour, the Monolux is supplied in 1220mm and two widths of 44mm and 50mm as standard. The Monolux channel should be fit to glass, then inserted into the opening and secured with screws.
