With some 30,000 reported incidents of amputated, mutilated or damaged finger per year, a solution was required to prevent fingers being damaged in opening and closing doors. Having identified the need in the market, FingerSafe was invented by the company in 1990 and a patent granted in 1992.
The FingerSafe MK1A is designed for standard butt-hung doors and is the world’s only door safety product that ejects fingers from the opening hinge side of a door. The MK1A is a flexbile 4 hour fire tested door finger protector that offers draught exclusion and can also act as a smoke inhibitor. Positioned on the inward side of the door, fixed to the door frame and the inside hinged edge of the door itself. When the door is closed the fitting is compressed, but when the door is opened the fitting extends and provides a protective covering over the hinge space. Fingersafe MK1A units are installed via a fixing strip which allows easy access to the hinge for maintenance.
The finger protector will fit wood, aluminium, metal, stainless steel, PVC-u and Crittal door. Providing a full 180 degrees to a maximum opening of 200mm and can be adapted to fit doors or gates with a maximum opening of 400mm. It can also fit rising butts.
The MK1A door hinge protector is fitted to the push side of the door and is manufactured with high-quality PVC-u and is screw fixed. The FingerSafe MK1A is simple to install, only takes 10-15 minutes and can be retrofitted to existing doors using the self drilling screws included, that effortlessly go through kickplates.
