The Sealmaster Thunder range offers an TLG external door threshold plate that provides an acoustic, draught and weather sealing solution for doors. This combination seal is used to improve the performance of inward opening doors with a water bar in the sill or as an acoustic door threshold seal.
For single inward opening doors, the TLG threshold plate should be mounted on a single timber batten (not supplied) and fixed to the existing sill, both fitted tightly between the stops. The batten should be sized to bring the top of the threshold strip to approximately 2mm above the top of the water bar with grooves cut into the underside to allow drainage. The stop seals may be run down to the sill or stopped at the top of the WGG weatherboard, according to preference. The weatherboard is fixed to the face of the door and adjusted to make light contact with the threshold plate.
The timber threshold batten should be notched on the underside sufficiently to allow trapped water to drain to outside. The threshold and weatherboard sections should be bedded in silicone sealant.
The external door threshold plate is surface mounted with the screws supplied. Available in a gold aluminium finish and in three standard lengths of 1000mm, 2100mm and 3000mm, the TLG Thunder threshold plate is recommended for sealing a larger section of external doors. For pairs of inward opening doors, the threshold plate and batten should be fitted in a continuous length.
The threshold plate can be used in combination with a weatherboard WGG or WHG, which when reversed and rebated into the door will provide a smooth faced threshold seal which can be ideal for outward opening door applications.
