Envirograf Surface Mounted Intumescent Strip offers protection against fire and smoke. This intumescent strip can be surface-mounted onto doors and door frames to minimise fire damage and expands to form a tight seal around the edge of the fire door, resisting the passage of fire and hot smoke, whilst the brush also assists in stopping the passage of cold smoke.
Successfully used for over 25 years, this surface mounted intumescent strip is quick and easy to fit with a self-adhesive tape, no drilling, rebating or additional tools needed. This surface mounted fire and smoke seal can be fitted directly over hinges with no hinge binding and there is no gap is necessary on the hinge side. The seal requires a gap of only 3.5mm at the head and closing edge and 1mm at the hinge edge of the door. Once fitted, the seal without the brush can be painted, however you must not paint the brush as this can be detrimental to the fire and smoke performance of the seal. The pile brush can be replaced if damaged or removed for a fire only seal.
Tested to BS476 Part 22 (1987), achieving integrity of up to 66 minutes with an 11mm gap at the head of the door. The self-adhesive intumescent strip has also been successfully tested to BS476 Part 23 (1987).
Available in sets for single or double doors in white, brown and black colour. Each face fixed intumescent strip set consists of a 30 x 2.5mm seal used for the top of the door frame and down the closing stile or between the meeting stile of double action doors and a 30x1mm seal is then supplied for the hinge side of the door frame, applied over the hinge without causing any hinge binding. Panel pins are included to fix the brush at 300mm centres, fire proof paper for the locks and ‘Fire Door – Keep Shut signs are also supplied in the sets.
